Cars in German Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers mentioned they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then located multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for details.

A high-ranking official said the attack made him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
